Here’s another memory." A few times, I would be invited to stay with my grandparents for the weekend. This was very special to me, because I was one of 6 children, but when I was with my grandparents, they would fuss over me and treat me like an only child. I fantasized that I was an only child for that time. My grandma would make me special dishes I liked, my granpa would teach me Bible verses and how to do jigsaw puzzles. My grandma would let me cut out the paper dolls in her McCall’s magazine. We would sit in her sunroom, which is where she did her sewing and where she had her beautiful African violets and other plants. Grandma taught me to embroider. I loved their house. I would sleep in the bed that was my mom’s when she was a girl. I got to take a bath in the the tub with the legs on it. Everything in their house was clean, beautiful and orderly." Isn’t this a wonderful memory? It was inspired by reading THE TRUTH, I’m Ten, I’m Smart and I Know Everything. I’m finding that so many women are having a wonderful time remembering themselves and delightful days gone by as they let the little girl in this book open their hearts to themselves!
