Optimism Can Be Practiced and Increase Good Mental Health

This quote is from Alexandra Stoddard’s book, Gracious Living in a New World.

"One day of optimism is a start.  A day can be a microcosm, a thiny representation of all our days, of our whole life.  There is no reason why the lessons of our one positive day could not stand for what we need each and every day of our lives, as a family and for ourselves."

This is a great quote and true.  It is never too late or too early to practice optimism.  I teach that in THE ENCHANTED SELF and the little girl in my new book, THE TRUTH, I’m Ten, I’m Smart and I Know Everything knows it also.  Maybe she knows it intuitively, as perhaps most of us did, before we became ‘grown-ups.’  The little girl knows how to practice being in a great mood by riding her bike down hills and letting the wind blow her hair back.  And she knows how to think good thoughts before she gets out of bed in the morning-imagining nice things that can happen.

And you can too.  Why not come to my website, www.enchantedself.com and download my paper, The Seven Gateways to Happiness now?  it is free, you’ll find it on the front page of my site, and use it as a guide to start practicing more positive thinking which will lead to more optimism.

Start today, or certainly tomorrow.  Good luck.  Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist
